Our Why

They’ve faced multiple diagnoses, undergone open-heart surgeries, and spent months in intensive care.

As their parents, we were suddenly immersed in a complex medical world, learning to understand diagnoses, procedures, medications, and care plans while still trying to simply be parents. Then, when we finally brought our girls home, we quickly realized that navigating life outside the hospital came with an entirely different set of challenges. The resources and guidance we needed to confidently parent our medically fragile children were often difficult to find, scattered across countless places, or simply unavailable.

Learning to navigate the healthcare system, coordinate complex care, advocate for our children, and make everyday parenting decisions—without a roadmap—was overwhelming.

The Annie Louise Foundation was born from that experience and from a desire to make the journey a little less daunting for other medical families. We created a community designed to help parents find the information, tools, and support they need to confidently navigate both the medical world and the realities of parenting a medically complex child.

Because no family should have to figure it all out alone.

What we do for families

At the heart of everything we do is a simple belief: families are stronger when they have the right resources, the right support, and each other.

Why The Peaches?

Annie was never an apple. She was a peach.

Her story taught us how often children with disabilities and medical complexities are measured against expectations that were never designed for them in the first place.

Peaches aren’t lesser than apples. They’re simply different. They grow differently, need different things, and deserve to be supported in becoming the very best version of exactly who they are.

What started as one mom advocating for her daughter in a room full of doctors became an analogy that stuck — and eventually, a symbol for everything we believe.

There’s a whole story behind the peach.
